Building on the success of the Jefe Velo Super Grip Shock-Reducing Handlebar Tape, our product management team has outdone themselves with this innovation.

The MEGA XL Super Grip Shock Reducing Handlebar Tape is a whopping 32% longer than its product line sibling (250cm Vs 190cm), 23% thicker (3.7mm vs 3.0mm), and with a silicone outer coating (vs Polyurethane), sooo much grippier. IMHO, this is the best (and longest) "grippy" tape on the market.

Standard handlebar tapes are 2mm - 3mm in thickness and 190 - 200cm long. That's just enough tape for standard bars--if you're proficient at bar taping and ride mostly smooth roads.

But what if you have flared bars, gravel bars, or better yet, the new style of ultra wide drop bars like the Walmer? The standard length tapes just won't work and if you try to "stretch it"--by going edge-to-edge with your taping, you lose all of the shock protection offered by the tape to begin with.

Jefe Velo MEGA XL Super Grip Shock Reducing Handlebar Tape is just what you need. Clocking in at 250cm per roll (two rolls included per pack) is more than enough for the widest of wide bars, allowing you to liberally overlap the tape in your wrapping job, and produce an awesome water proof, grippy, shock-reducing layer.

MEGA XL Super Grip Shock Reducing Handlebar Tape is made up of three layers. The top layer is a grippy, beaded silicone coat that sheds water better than the caulk in your shower. The second layer is Ethylene Polymer Acetate, a lightweight synthetic polymer known for its superior cushioning and shock absorption properties. The third layer is an adhesive strip that keeps the tape in place once it's wrapped. It has an easy to remove self-adhesive strip--and no, the removable strip is not included in the thickness calculation. Check out the vernier picture - the reported thickness is 3.7mm but much of the rolls measure closer to 4.0mm.

If you're sensitive to bar vibrations like I am - consider double wrapping your bars. I use a roll of MEGA XL 4.8mm Cushion tape for the first layer with this tape on the outer layer, and I have to tell you, it's like floating on a cloud. And the cost of both packs is still less than one roll of the big name tapes!
